Audiometric Evaluations
Complete hearing testing for pediatric and adult patients are provided by a Doctor of Audiology. No technicians or unqualified staff will evaluate Listen Hear Audiology Center patients. Evaluations include measures of hearing sensitivity for air and bone conducted sounds, speech discrimination ability, speech understanding in noise, loudness comfort tolerance levels, and when necessary, assessment of the middle ear function (impedance audiometry), and special testing to determine the location of dysfunction.
Auditory Brainstem Respone and Otoacoustic Emission Testing (ABR/OAE)
ABR and OAE are specialized tests for assessing hearing in newborns and small children. ABR evaluates the electical signal produceed by the inner ear as it travels through the brainstem. Waveforms are collected and analyzed to get a relatively good and reliable idea of the amount and type of hearing loss for individual ears. OAE testing evaluates the function of the inner ear hair cells. It is a quick screening tool that evaluates damage to the cochlea or inner ear. Combined, the tests are powerful tools in the early diagnosis of hearing loss in young children so that management can start sooner than later.
Hearing Aid Consultation
The Hearing Aid Consultation is a counseling session centered around your specific hearing needs, and the hearing devices available to fit those needs. We will discuss your potential benefit from hearing aids, which hearing aid styles are best suited for you, and the special circuits that are most appropriate for your particular hearing loss. You will receive honest and realistic information about the expected outcomes with hearing aids with no added hype or high pressure.
Hearing Aids & Hearing Aid Checks

Cerumen Management
Excessive cerumen, or ear wax, is a common condition that affects millions of people. If cerumen is allowed to build up, temporary hearing complications can arise. Failure to remove excessive cerumen may lead to a perforated eardrum, dizziness, bleeding, infection, and all around pain. If you're bothered by excessive earwax, it is important to have a professional properly evaluate the ears and remove the cerumen. Listen Hear Audiology Center uses a variety of techniques including removal with instruments and/or suction. The cerumen is removed under an operating microscope so that all ear structures my be identified clearly during the removal process.
Ear Molds
Listen Hear Audiology Center can have a variety of custom earmolds fabricated including the following:
Real-Ear Measurement
A small tube attached to a microphone is inserted into the ear along with the hearing aid, and the output of the aid, as modified by the ear canal, can be measured to assure adequate amplification when setting, programming, and verifying the fit of the aid.
Live Speech Mapping
A similar procedure is performed as with real-ear measurement, expect the hearing aid is evaluated in the ear using live speech as the testing stimulus. The hearing aids are evaluated to see if speech sounds are properly aided and fall below levels that are measured too loud for an individual.
Canolith Repositioning
This is a procedure designed to treat benign positional paroxysmal vertigo (BPPV). This is a condition of vertigo that is caused by specific changes in position. BPPV is usually characterized by a spinning sensation caused by lying back with the head either to the right or left. Canolith repositioning is a very effective and simple procedure that corrects BPPV and relieves the vertigo. It is performed in the office and takes approximately 30 minutes.
